DESCRIPTION
Amoxicillin for injection for cattle, sheep, pigs, dogs and cats.
Composition:
Betamox LA inj. is a sterile white suspension containing 150 mg/ml amoxicillin as Amoxicillin Trihydrate.
Chemically, amoxicillin is a 6-[D(-)-amino-p-hydroxy-phenylacetamido]penicillin acid.
Indications:
Amoxicillin is a semisynthetic penicillin with a broad spectrum of antibacterial activity for cattle, pigs, sheep, dogs and cats. In vitro, amoxicillin is effective against many Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria including: Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Proteus, Salmonella, as well as staphylococci and streptococci.
It is effective in the control of infections caused by some susceptible microorganisms in cattle, sheep, pigs, dogs and cats, in which case a single prolonged injection is sufficient. It may prove effective in secondary bacterial infections caused by susceptible organisms, cases where bacteria are not the initial cause of the disease.
Indications include diseases of:
a) the digestive system,
b) the respiratory system,
c) the skin and soft tissues,
d) the urogenital system,
e) and in the prevention of postoperative infections.
Contraindications:
Intravenous or intrathecal administration of Betamox LA is not allowed!;
It is not effective against bacterial strains producing beta-lactamases.
Amoxicillin, like other penicillins, cannot be administered orally to rabbits, hamsters, gerbils and guinea pigs.
Adverse reactions:
Occasional local tissue reactions may occur after injection.

Target species:
Cattle, sheep, pigs, dogs and cats.
Dosage for each species, routes of administration and method of administration:
Cattle, sheep and pigs: intramuscular.
Dogs, cats: intramuscular/subcutaneous.
The recommended dose is 15 mg / kg body weight, which can be repeated in 48 hours.
Massage the inoculation site.
Shake the bottle well before use.
This product does not contain an antimicrobial preservative.
Use a dry and sterile syringe.
Administer at different sites.

The dosage is equivalent to 1 ml per 10 kg body weight. If the dosage volume exceeds 20 ml, it should be divided and injected at two different points. Normal aseptic precautions can be observed.
Recommendations for correct administration:
Use a graduated syringe to administer the recommended dose correctly. This is very important when administering smaller amounts.
Withdrawal period:
Milk during treatment cannot be used for human consumption. In the case of cows milked twice a day, the milk can be used for human consumption 79 hours after the last treatment. Cattle can only be slaughtered for human consumption 23 days after the last treatment. Do not administer to sheep whose milk is used for human consumption!. Sheep and pigs can only be slaughtered for human consumption 16 days after the last treatment.

Shelf life of the veterinary medicinal product as packaged for sale: 2 years.
Shelf life after first opening the immediate packaging: 28 days.
Special warnings:
Penicillins and cephalosporins may cause hypersensitivity (allergy) after administration, inhalation, ingestion or in contact with the skin.
Hypersensitivity to penicillins may cause adverse reactions to cephalosporins and vice versa. Allergic reactions to these substances may in some cases be serious. People with known hypersensitivity to such preparations should avoid contact with the veterinary medicinal product. Handle the product carefully to avoid any exposure; Take all recommended precautions. If symptoms such as skin burns occur after exposure, seek medical advice immediately and show the package leaflet or the label to the doctor. Swelling of the face, lips or eyes or difficulty in breathing are serious symptoms and require immediate medical attention. Wash hands after use.
Special precautions for the disposal of unused veterinary medicinal product or waste materials, if applicable:
Any unused veterinary medicinal product or waste materials derived from the use of such products should be disposed of in accordance with local requirements.
Other information:
Due to its broad spectrum distribution, after absorption a high content of amoxicillin can be found in the kidneys, urine, liver and bile. Also, the rapid bactericidal action is very important;
Due to its mode of action, amoxicillin prevents the recurrence of respiratory infection;
The absence of toxicity, as with other penicillins, is apparent.
Animals with a functional rumen should only be administered parenterally.
