ENROFLOXAROM C 100 Tablets – Broad-spectrum anti-infective in respiratory disorders and kidney infections in dogs, cats and birds.
COMPOSITION for a 100 mg tablet:
Active substance: Enrofloxacin 5 mg/cp;
Excipients (lactose, starch, polyvinylpyrrolidone, carboxymethylcellulose, aerosil, talc, avicel and magnesium stearate) per 100 mg.
PHARMACOLOGICAL ACTION
Enrofloxacin is a broad-spectrum chemotherapeutic agent with strong antimicrobial action, even on antibiotic-resistant germs.
It is a 4-fluoroquinolone derivative, part of the latest generation of synthetic quinolones, with notable bactericidal activity on Gram-positive and Gram-negative germs, mycoplasmas and chlamydia.
The germicidal action is achieved by inhibiting the activity of the DNA-gyrase enzyme, which plays an important role in the synthesis of nucleic acids, causing the death of the bacterial cell
TARGET SPECIES: Dogs, cats and birds (chickens and racing and ornamental pigeons).
INDICATIONS
in dogs: in respiratory disorders;
in cats: in kidney infections (nephritis, cystitis) and febrile conditions;
in chickens: in respiratory disorders;
in pigeons: in salmonellosis.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
Do not administer to young dogs up to 12 months of age, to lactating or pregnant bitches, to dogs with a history of epilepsy and to hens whose eggs are intended for human consumption.
Do not administer to pigeons whose meat is intended for human consumption.
Increasing the dose of the drug leads to deformation of the articular cartilage.
ADVERSE REACTIONS: In dogs and cats, vomiting, diarrhea, anorexia and depression are rarely observed.
METHOD OF ADMINISTRATION
In all species listed above, 1 tablet per kg of body weight is administered per day.
Treatment lasts 3-7 days, depending on the severity of the condition, as follows:
dogs: 4-7 days;
cats: 3-7 days;
chickens: 3-5 days;
pigeons: 3-7 days.
WARNINGS
It has an antagonistic action with chloramphenicol, macrolides, tetracyclines, theophylline and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.
Body weight should be correctly assessed to avoid overdoses or underdosages.
Official and local regulations in force regarding antimicrobial substances must be taken into account when the product is used.
Fluoroquinolones should be reserved for treatments that, in clinical conditions, respond poorly or will respond poorly to other classes of antimicrobials.
When possible, fluoroquinolones should be used based on susceptibility testing (antibiogram).
Use of the product without following the instructions mentioned may increase the antibiotic resistance of bacteria to fluoroquinolones and decrease the effectiveness of treatment with other quinolones, due to possible cross-resistance.
WITHDRAWAL PERIOD Meat and offal (chickens): 3 days from the last treatment.
