For optimal control of flea infestation, the veterinary medicinal product can be administered at 12-week intervals.
For the treatment of ear mange (Otodectes cynotis) infestations, a single dose of the product should be applied. A new veterinary examination is recommended 28 days after treatment, as some animals may require additional treatment with an alternative product.
Precautions:
Ticks and fleas need to start feeding on the host in order to be exposed to the fluralaner; Therefore, the risk of transmission of parasite–borne diseases cannot be excluded.
Cats in heartworm–endemic areas (or those that have traveled to endemic areas) can be infected with adult heartworms. No therapeutic effect has been demonstrated against adult Dirofilaria immitis.
For the treatment of ear mite infections (Otodectes cynotis) or gastrointestinal nematodes T. cati and A. tubaeforme, the need and frequency of repeat treatment, as well as the choice of treatment (monosubstance or combination product) should be assessed by the treating veterinarian.
Parasite resistance to any class of anthelmintics can occur after frequent and repeated use of an anthelmintic of that class in specific circumstances.
The use of this veterinary medicinal product should be based on the assessment of each individual case and local epidemiological information on the current susceptibility of the target species in order to limit the possibility of future resistance selection.
Frequent swimming or shampooing should be avoided, as the product‘s continued effectiveness in these cases has not been tested.
Care should be taken to avoid contact of the product with the eyes of the animal.
Do not use directly on skin lesions.
In the absence of available data, treatment of cats younger than 9 weeks of age and cats of less than 1.2 kg body weight is not recommended.
Treatment of male breeding animals is not recommended.
