Key benefits:
Ciclosporin – reduces inflammation and itching associated with atopic dermatitis.
Intended for:
Dogs, cats.
Method of administration:
Oral administration.
Presentation form:
15 ml bottle.
Dosage:
Cats: The recommended dose of ciclosporin is 7 mg/kg body weight and will initially be administered daily. Depending on the response, the frequency of administration will subsequently be reduced. Since the efficacy and safety of ciclosporin have not been determined in cats weighing less than 2.3 kg, it should be based on the benefit/risk assessment by the responsible veterinarian.
The correct dosage for both dogs and cats is done by consulting the table in the leaflet.
Method of administration:
In dogs, the product should be administered at least 2 hours before or after a meal directly into the animal’s mouth, and in cats it should be mixed with food.
Unscrew the plastic cap and insert the plastic dispenser.
Hold the bottle upright and insert the oral dosing syringe firmly into the plastic adapter.
Invert the bottle and gently pull the plunger so that the dosing syringe is filled with product.
Insert the syringe into the animal’s mouth and push the plunger to administer the medicine.
Possible adverse effects:
The most common adverse reactions observed are gastrointestinal disorders, such as vomiting, soft or mucoid feces and diarrhea. Other adverse reactions may be observed rarely: lethargy or hyperactivity, anorexia, mild to moderate hyperplasia.
After administration of the treatment, mild and transient salivation may be observed.
Precautions:
The clinical signs of atopic dermatitis in dogs and allergic dermatitis in cats, such as itching and skin inflammation, are not specific to these conditions. Other causes of dermatitis, such as ectoparasite infestations, other allergies causing dermatological signs or bacterial infections, should be ruled out before starting treatment. Flea infestations should be treated before and during treatment of atopic or allergic dermatitis. A complete clinical examination by a veterinarian should be performed before treatment.
The concomitant administration of other immunosuppressive agents is not recommended.
Treatment is not recommended in bitches and cats during pregnancy or lactation.
Storage:
Store in a place protected from moisture and direct sunlight, at temperatures up to 25°C.
In case of overdose:
There is no specific antidote and, in case of signs of overdose, the animal should be treated symptomatically.
At single oral doses 6 times higher than the recommended dose, no other adverse reactions were observed than those mentioned when administering the recommended treatment.
In case of repeated administration for 56 days of doses of 24 mg/kg body weight, the following adverse effects were observed: soft feces, vomiting.
