Enroxil Flavour 150 mg is an antibiotic intended for dogs and cats, with the active substance Enrofloxacin. The carton contains 1 blister pack with 10 tablets. Each tablet contains 150 mg of Enrofloxacin.
Indications: Enroxil Flavour 150 mg is indicated in primary and secondary infections of the gastrointestinal, respiratory and urogenital tracts, skin and ear canal infections, septicemic forms and in case of infected wounds in dogs and cats.
Enrofloxacin is a chemotherapeutic of the fluoroquinolone group (derived from carboxylic acid). In very low concentrations it has a bactericidal effect against most Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria, but also effective action against Mycoplasma spp.
The mechanism of action is based on the inhibition of the action of the gyrase enzyme, which is the main factor in the catalysis reaction corresponding to the DNA synthesis in the nucleus of the bacterial cell. Gyrase inhibition causes functional disorders, blockages of cell biosynthesis and death of the pathogen. The result is a rapid bactericidal action, especially against microorganisms resistant to beta-lactam antibiotics, tetracyclines, aminoglycosides, macrolides and folic acid antagonists (sulfonamides and trimethoprim).
After oral administration, the preparation is absorbed and distributed rapidly in tissues and tissue fluids where it exceeds several times the serum concentration.
Enrofloxacin is active against the following microorganisms: Mycoplasma spp., E.coli, Salmonella spp., Campylobacter spp., Haemophilus spp., Pasteurella spp., Bordetella spp., Erysipelothrix rhusiopathiae, Klebsiella spp., Proteus spp., Vibrio parahaemolyticus, Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus spp.(B, C, E), Clostridium perfringens, Actinobacillus spp., Enterococci and others.
