INDICATIONS:
GENTOCIN OTIC is indicated in dogs and cats for the treatment of otitis externa with polymicrobial etiology caused by germs sensitive to the action of the active substances.
COMPOSITION: 1 g of product contains:
Active substances:
Gentamicin sulfate..…………………………..3 mg
Dexamethasone……………….………….…….1 mg
Excipients: ethyl alcohol, glycerin, polyethylene glycol 400, distilled water, glacial acetic acid.
CONTRAINDICATIONS:
Do not administer in case of hypersensitivity to the active substances or to any of the excipients.
ADVERSE REACTIONS:
None have been reported.

DOSAGE FOR EACH SPECIES, ROUTE OF ADMINISTRATION AND METHOD OF ADMINISTRATION:
Clean the animal’s ear with a cerumenolytic solution – Otto Cleans.
Instill GENTOCIN OTIC solution into the external auditory canal and gently massage the base of the ear, in order to ensure good diffusion of the drug into the auditory canal. Administer 2-4 drops 2 times / day for 5-6 days.
RECOMMENDATIONS ON CORRECT ADMINISTRATION:

Keep out of the sight and reach of children.
Store at a temperature below 250C.

Special precautions for use in animals:
The use of the product will be carried out on the basis of susceptibility testing of the isolated bacteria. If this is not possible, therapy will be based on epidemiological information regarding the susceptibility of the isolated bacteria.
Use of the product outside the instructions in the SPC may lead to an increase in the prevalence of resistance to the active substances and may cause a decrease in the effectiveness of antimicrobial treatments due to cross-resistance.
Special precautions to be taken by the person administering the veterinary medicinal product to animals:
Hands should be washed after administering the product.
Avoid contact with eyes. In case of accidental contact, rinse immediately with water.
People with hypersensitivity to the active substances should avoid contact with the veterinary medicinal product.
Use during pregnancy, lactation or lay:
Use during pregnancy is not recommended.
The safety of the veterinary medicinal product has not been established during lactation. Use only according to the benefit/risk assessment by the responsible veterinarian.
Interaction with other medicinal products and other forms of interaction:
The simultaneous use of other ototoxic and/or nephrotoxic substances potentiates the ototoxicity and/or nephrotoxicity of gentamicin. The simultaneous administration of neuromuscular blocking agents potentiates pre-existing neuromuscular blockade.
Overdose (symptoms, emergency procedures, antidotes), as appropriate:
Allergic reactions may rarely occur.
Incompatibilities:
Incompatibilities in solutions with: amphotericin B, ampicillin, benzylpenicillin, carbencillin, cephalothin, chloramphenicol, hemisuccinate, heparin, methicillin, oxacillin, vitamin B complex.
In the absence of compatibility studies, this veterinary medicinal product should not be administered concomitantly with other veterinary medicinal products.
SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS FOR THE DISPOSAL OF UNUSED PRODUCT OR WASTE MATERIALS, IF ANY:
Medicinal products should not be disposed of via wastewater or household waste.
