Mode of action:
Fenbendazole is taken up orally by worms and blocks the polymerization of tubulin, the structural protein inside the nerve cell axon, thus affecting the absorption and transport functions of the cells in the parasite. Pyrantel acts as an antagonist on cholinergic nicotine receptors in the ganglia, which leads to spastic neuromuscular paralysis of the worms. Praziquantel increases the permeability of cell membranes for calcium ions, which leads to muscle contractions of the parasite.
