Antiparasitic collar for cats and small dogs Foresto Collar, 1 piece, Elanco
Properties:
– for the treatment and prevention of flea infestation (Ctenocephalides felis) up to 8 months;
– efficacy against fleas begins immediately after application of the collar;
– protects the animal’s surroundings against the development of flea larvae for up to 10 weeks;
– can be used as part of a treatment strategy to combat flea allergy dermatitis (FAD);
– the product has a long-lasting acaricidal (killing) effect, (Ixodes ricinus, Rhipicephalus, turanicus) and repellent (anti-feeding) efficacy against tick infestations (Ixodes ricinus) is 8 months;
– is effective against larvae, nymphs and adult ticks.
Target species:
Cats, dogs ≤ 8 kg.
How to use:
Remove the collar from the protective bag only before use. Unfold the collar and check if there are any plastic remnants left on the inside of the collar. Fasten the collar around the animal’s neck without tightening it too much (as a guide it should be possible to insert 2 fingers between the collar and the animal’s neck). Pull the free end through the buckle and cut off any excess length exceeding 2 cm.
The collar should be worn continuously for the entire 8 month protection period and should be removed after the treatment period.
Check the collar periodically and adjust if necessary, especially when kittens/puppies are growing rapidly.
This collar is designed with a secure locking mechanism. In the unlikely event that a cat gets caught, the cat’s own strength is sufficient to open the collar and allow for a quick release.
The product is water resistant, remaining effective if the animal gets wet. However, prolonged and intense exposure to water and
excessive shampooing should be avoided as the duration of activity may be reduced. Studies have shown that Monthly shampooing or immersion in water does not significantly shorten the 8-month period for ticks after redistribution of the active substances in the fur, but the effectiveness of the product against fleas gradually decreased starting from month 5.
Ingredients:
A 38 cm (12.5 g) grey, odourless collar contains 1.25 imidacloprid and 0.56 flumethrin as active substances.
Excipients: Titanium dioxide (E171), iron oxide (E172), dibutyl adipate, propylene glycol dicaprylyl caprate, epoxidised soybean oil, stearic acid, polyvinyl chloride.
Precautions:
Do not treat kittens under 10 weeks of age and puppies under 7 weeks of age.
Do not use in case of known hypersensitivity to the active substances or to any of the excipients.
Adverse reactions:
Occasional mild pruritus and/or erythema may be observed in animals that are not accustomed to wearing a collar in the first few days after application.
Make sure that the collar is not too tight. Slight hair loss and mild skin reactions may occur at the application site, which usually disappear within 1 to 2 weeks without the need to remove the collar. In isolated cases, temporary removal of the collar may be recommended until the symptoms have disappeared.
In cats, in rare cases, mild and transient reactions such as depression, changes in food intake, lassitude, vomiting and diarrhoea may occur initially. As with other external applications, allergic contact dermatitis may occur in hypersensitive animals.
If you notice any serious reactions or other effects not mentioned in this leaflet, please inform your veterinarian.
