· What does FRONTLINE® do?
– on fleas: it kills adult fleas within 24 hours of their arrival on the animal.
– on ticks: it eliminates over 90% of ticks within 48 hours of their attachment to the animal, thus reducing the risk of disease transmission. This risk is maximum after 48 hours of the tick attaching to the animal.
– on animal lice: it kills lice present on the animal within a maximum of 48 hours.
· Pharmacotherapeutic action: fipronil is a pyrazole derivative, with insecticidal and acaricidal activity. Fipronil inhibits the GABA (gamma amino butyric acid) complex and blocks the transfer of chloride ions, causing uncontrolled activity of the central nervous system and the death of insects and mites.
· Eliminates fleas (Ctenocephalides felis).
· Insecticide effective against new infestations of adult fleas for 4 weeks.
· Prevention of flea reproduction by inhibiting the development of eggs (ovicidal activity) and larvae and pupae (larvicidal activity) hatched from eggs laid by adult fleas for 6 weeks after application.
· Removal of ticks (Ixodes ricinus, Dermacentor variabilis, Rhipicephalus sanguineus).
· The product is effective against ticks for 2 weeks.
· The drug can be successfully integrated into a therapeutic program for Flea Allergy Dermatitis.

Administration:
· Route of administration: external, by application to the fur.
· Apply to dry skin.
· It is very important to remove the hair between the shoulders well so that the skin is visible (apply the product well to the skin and not to the fur).
· Spot-on spreads throughout the body and concentrates in the sebaceous glands that act as reservoirs.
· From one week to the next, they release the product, ensuring prolonged effectiveness.
· Application must be made at the base of the head so that the animal cannot lick the product.

Possible adverse effects:
· Among the rarely suspected adverse effects, transient skin reactions at the application site (flaking, hair loss, itching, local redness) and generalized itching or hair loss have been reported.
· Excessive salivation, reversible nervous signs (increased sensitivity to stimulation, depression, other nervous signs) or vomiting have also been observed after use.
· If the animal has licked the solution, hypersalivation will be observed for a short period of time, given the nature of the excipient.
· If you notice serious reactions or other effects not mentioned in the package leaflet, please inform your veterinarian.

Precautions:
· It is important to ensure that the animal does not lick itself and to supervise so that the animals do not lick each other.
· Animals should not be allowed to swim for 2 days after application of the product.
· Do not shampoo the animal 2 days before and after application of the product.
· Attached ticks may occasionally be observed. For this reason, the transmission of infectious diseases cannot be completely excluded if conditions are unfavourable.
· At the beginning of treatment, resting areas such as the animal’s bed or carpets and sofas should be treated with an appropriate insecticide and vacuumed regularly.
· Avoid overdose.
· In the absence of available information, do not apply the treatment with Frontline Spot On to puppies less than 8 weeks of age or weighing less than 2 kg.
· Do not use in rabbits, as sometimes fatal adverse effects may occur.
· Do not use in sick animals (systemic diseases, fever) or convalescent.
· Do not use in case of hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients.
· Frontline Spot On pipettes can be used in pregnant and lactating bitches.

Storage:
· Store in a place protected from moisture and direct sunlight, at temperatures up to 25°C.

In case of overdose:
· The coat may become sticky in the application area when more than one dose is applied.
· If this phenomenon occurs, it will disappear within 24 hours after treatment.
· The risk of adverse effects may, however, increase in case of overdose, therefore animals should be treated correctly according to their weight.
