COMPOSITION

1 tablet contains:

Active substance: Metronidazole 250 mg

Beige, round tablets with a cross-shaped score line on one side.

The tablets can be divided into 2 or 4 equal parts.

INDICATIONS

Treatment of gastrointestinal tract infections caused by Giardia spp. and Clostridia spp. (i.e. C. perfringens or C. difficile).

Treatment of urogenital tract, oral cavity, throat and skin infections caused by strictly anaerobic bacteria (e.g. Clostridia spp.) sensitive to metronidazole.

Do not use in cases of liver disease.

Do not use in cases of hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients.

DOSAGE AND ROUTE OF ADMINISTRATION

For oral administration.

The recommended dose is 50 mg metronidazole/kg body weight/day for 5-7 days. The daily dose may be divided equally for twice daily administration (i.e. 25 mg/kg body weight/day twice daily).

To ensure the correct dose is administered, body weight should be determined as accurately as possible. The following table provides recommendations for administration of the product with a recommended dose rate of 50 mg/kg body weight administered once daily or, preferably, administered in two daily doses of 25 mg/kg body weight.

The tablets can be divided into 2 or 4 equal parts to ensure proper dosing. Place the tablet on a flat surface with the scored side up and the convex (rounded) side facing the surface.

Halves: Press both sides of the tablet with your thumbs.

Quarters: press the middle of the tablet with your thumbs.
