Therapeutic action
SYNULOX represents a solution to the problem of bacterial resistance to antibiotics, which makes it effective where other antibiotics do not work. Resistance to the vast majority of antibiotics is caused by the production of beta(ß)-lactamases by a large part of bacteria. Through these ß-lactamases, bacteria inactivate the antibiotic before it can act on them. The clavulanic acid in SYNULOX exerts a protective mechanism by inactivating ß-lactamase, as a result of this process the bacteria become sensitive to the rapid bactericidal effect of amoxicillin. SYNULOX is a broad-spectrum antibiotic, from the group of semi-synthetic penicillins, being extremely effective against a large number of infections with Gram-positive bacteria (Actinomyces spp, Bacillus anthracis, Clostridium spp, Corynebacterium spp, Erisipelothrix rhusiopatie, Lysteria monocytogenes, Staphylococcus spp, Streptococcus spp) and Gram-negative bacteria (Escherichia Coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Campylobacter spp, Proteus spp, Salmonella spp, Pasteurella spp, Haemophylus spp, Moraxella spp, Fusobacterium spp, Actinobacillus spp, Bordetella bronchiseptica, etc.).
Indications
For the treatment of diseases caused by germs sensitive to amoxicillin and clavulanic acid (digestive infections – diarrheal syndromes, respiratory – including pneumonia with Haemophillus and Pasteurella, genitourinary, skin and soft tissue infections (omphalophlebitis, metritis, mastitis, MMA), infections of the oral cavity, pharynx and tonsils, in cattle, pigs, sheep, goats, dogs and cats.
Administration and dosage
It will be administered intramuscularly or subcutaneously in the general dose of 8.75 mg / kg body weight once / day (1 ml SYNULOX / 20 kg body weight) for 3-5 days. It must be shaken before use. Do not administer intravenously.
Precautions
Avoid contact of the product with water in any form (sterile, dry syringes!)
Contraindications
In the species mentioned, the product is devoid of toxicity. Like other penicillins, it should not administered to rabbits, guinea pigs and hamsters. Also, it is not administered to horses. It is not administered to animals allergic to ß-lactam antibiotics.
Side effects
They consist of local reactions. Exceptionally, hypersensitivity reactions occur that can range from simple urticaria to anaphylactic shock. Mycotic complications or other resistant germs may occur in the case of long-term treatments.
Withdrawal period
Meat-14 days, milk-24 hours.
