Bixtonim is a topical nasal decongestant containing ephedrine hydrochloride, hydrocortisone, naphazoline hydrochloride and is intended for administration to adults, adolescents and children over 3 years of age. Bixtonim is used in acute and subacute rhinitis, allergic rhinitis, postoperative edema of the nasal mucosa.
Composition: 1ml nasal drops solution contains 5mg ephedrine hydrochloride, 0.2mg hydrocortisone, 1mg naphazoline hydrochloride, sodium merthiolate, ethanol, sodium chloride, purified water.
Method of administration:
– Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
– Adults: 2-3 drops in both nostrils, 3-4 times a day.
– Children over 3 years of age: 1-2 drops 3-4 times a day.
– Bixtonim should not be used in children under 3 years of age.
– The duration of treatment should not exceed 3 days.
Do not use Bixtonim:
– If you are allergic to: ephedrine hydrochloride, hydrocortisone, naphazoline hydrochloride or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
– If you are at risk of narrow-angle glaucoma, risk of urinary retention related to urethro-prostatic disorders.
– In the case of children under 3 years of age.
Warnings:
– Athletes: This medicine contains an active substance that may cause a positive result in anti-doping tests.
– Pregnancy, breast-feeding and lactation: If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to become pregnant, ask your doctor for advice before taking this medicine. Bixtonim is not recommended during pregnancy and in women who are breast-feeding.
– Driving and using machines: Bixtonim does not affect the ability to drive or use machines.
– Bixtonim contains sodium merthiolate. This is an irritant and may cause local skin reactions and discoloration.
– Nasal decongestants with naphazoline may cause an increase in blood pressure if used during treatment with MAOIs (monoamine oxidase inhibitors + drugs used in depression).
