Key benefits:
· L–carnitine is a quaternal amine composed of lysine and methionine. Its main function is to metabolize the long chain of fatty acids and produce energy. L–carnitine deficiency in dogs is correlated with the development of dilated cardiomyopathy. L–carnitine supplementation helps protect against fatty acid buildup inside myocardial cells.
· Taurine is one of the crucial substances for maintaining healthy cardiac metabolism, through its action of regulating calcium ions and osmotic potentials, neutralizing free radicals. It also constitutes 40% of the free amino acids of the myocardium. Taurine has antiarrhythmic properties, regulating the number of heartbeats according to the level of calcium ions and ensuring the integrity of myocardial cells. Taurine deficiency directly contributes to the development of dilated cardiomyopathy in dogs.
