Ceftiofur
1 ml of product contains:
Ceftiofur (as hydrochloride) 50 mg/ml
INDICATIONS
In cattle and pigs for the treatment of respiratory diseases caused by microorganisms sensitive to ceftiofur.
In cattle for the treatment of interdigital necrobacillosis and postpartum metritis.
The recommendation is limited to those cases of metritis in which treatment with another anti-microbial substance has not proven effective.
It is effective against the following bacteria:
Cattle: Pasteurella haemolytica, P. Multocida, Haemophylus somnus, Fusobacterium necrophorum, Bacteroides melaninogenicus.
Pigs: Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae, Pasteurella Multocida, Salmonella choleraesuis, Streptococcus suis.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
Do not use in animals with known hypersensitivity to ceftiofur or other β-lactam antibiotics.
Do not administer intravenously.
Do not use in cases of resistance to other cephalosporins or β-lactam antibiotics.
Do not use in poultry (including egg-laying poultry) due to the risk of antimicrobial resistance in humans.
TARGET SPECIES
Cattle and pigs.
DOSAGE FOR EACH SPECIES, ROUTE(S) AND METHOD OF ADMINISTRATION
To avoid underdosing, it is necessary to determine the body weight of the animals as accurately as possible.
Pigs:
3 mg ceftiofur/kg body weight (1 mg CEFTISOL/16 kg body weight), administered intramuscularly once daily for three consecutive days.
Do not administer more than 4 ml at the injection site.
Cattle:
For respiratory infections: 1 mg ceftiofur / kg body weight, (1 mg CEFTISOL / 50 kg body weight) administered subcutaneously once daily for 3-5 consecutive days. For the treatment of acute interdigital necrobacillosis: 1 mg ceftiofur / kg body weight (1 mg CEFTISOL / 50 kg body weight) administered subcutaneously once daily for 5 consecutive days.
For acute post-partum metritis within 10 days after calving 1 mg ceftiofur / kg body weight (1 mg CEFTISOL / 50 kg body weight), administered subcutaneously once daily for 5 consecutive days.
No more than 13 ml should be administered at the injection site.
RECOMMENDATIONS ON CORRECT ADMINISTRATION
Shake the bottle well for at least 60 seconds before administration or until the product has a homogeneous appearance.

Swine – meat and offal: 2 days
Cattle – meat and offal: 6 days
– milk: 0 days
SPECIAL STORAGE PRECAUTIONS
Keep out of the sight and reach of children.
Do not store above 25°C.
Store in the original packaging.
Protect from direct light.
Do not use after the expiry date stated on the label.
Shelf life after first opening the immediate packaging: 28 days.
