Alamycin LA 300-100 ml – Broad-spectrum antibiotic indicated for the treatment of diseases caused by or in combination with oxytetracycline-sensitive microorganisms in cattle, sheep and pigs.
Composition:
Sterile aqueous solution containing:
-Oxytetracycline Dihydrate Ph.Eur. equivalent to 300 mg/ml oxytetracycline base.
Indications:
Alamycin LA 300 is a broad-spectrum antibiotic indicated for the treatment of diseases caused by or in combination with oxytetracycline-sensitive microorganisms in cattle, sheep and pigs. A broad spectrum of Gram-positive and Gram-negative microorganisms are sensitive to oxytetracycline, including: Bordetella bronchiseptica, Actinomyces pyogenes, Erysipelothrix rhusiopathiae, Pasteurella spp, Staphylococcus spp and Streptococcus spp. Certain mycoplasmas, rickets, protozoa and chlamydia are also sensitive to oxytetracycline.
Alamycin LA 300 can be used in the treatment and control of a wide range of general systemic, respiratory, urinary and local infections caused by oxytetracycline-sensitive microorganisms. Specific indications for Alamycin LA 300 include: pasteurellosis, pneumonia, atrophic rhinitis, measles, joint infections associated with omphalitis, summer mastitis in cows, keratoconjunctivitis in sheep (pink eye disease), as well as in the control of enzootic abortion in sheep.
Dosage and method of administration:
Alamycin LA 300 is specially formulated to have a long-lasting action consisting of sustained antibacterial activity. Following intramuscular administration, blood levels persist for 3 to 4 days at a dosage of 20 mg/kg and for 5 to 6 days at a dosage of 30 mg/kg. The maximum blood level is reached in 4 to 6 hours after administration, which makes Alamycin LA 300 indicated for the treatment of acute infections.
It is administered in deep intramuscular injections to cattle, sheep and pigs for the treatment and control of diseases caused by microorganisms sensitive to the action of oxytetracycline.
Alamycin LA 300 can be taken at a standard dose of 20 mg/kg to achieve a duration of action of 3 to 4 days, or at a high dose of 30 mg/kg for a long duration of action (this means that it works for 5 to 6 days). Use aseptic instruments.
Cattle, sheep, pigs:
standard dose – 20 mg/kg (1 ml/15 kg),
increased dose – 30 mg/kg (1 ml/10 kg).
The maximum recommended dose of the drug for inoculation at a single point:
Bovine: 15 ml
Pork: 10 ml
Sheep: 5 ml
Piglets:
– first day 0.2 ml
– 7 days 0.3 ml
– 14 days 0.4 ml
– 21 days 0.5 ml
– over 21 days 1 ml/ 10 kg.
Contraindications, warnings:
Do not dilute Alamycin LA 300.
Although Alamycin LA 300 is well tolerated, a mild, transient local reaction may sometimes be observed. The use of tetracyclines during tooth growth and bone formation, including during pregnancy, may cause them to become discolored. Oxytetracycline treatment does not completely eliminate chlamydial infection in a herd.
