Antibiotic product based on spiramycin and metronidazole for combating oral and dental infections in dogs and cats.

Spiramycin 150,000 IU
Metronidazole 25 mg
Key benefits:
Indicated in the treatment of infections due to aerobic and anaerobic bacteria susceptible to spiramycin and metronidazole, especially infections in the oral cavity, such as: stomatitis, gingivitis, periodontal disease, alveolar pyorrhea and halitosis.
The bacterial spectrum includes: Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp., Actinobacillus spp., Bacteroides spp., Fusobacterium spp., Campylobacter spp., Clostridium spp. and Actinomyces spp.. Metronidazole is active against both Treponema and the protozoa Trichomonas and Histomonas.
Spiramycin is a bacteriostatic belonging to the macrolide family. It is active against a wide range of Gram-positive bacteria (such as Mycoplasma), as well as against a narrower range of Gram-negative bacteria.
Metronidazole is active against Gram-negative and Gram-positive anaerobic germs (Bacteroides, Fusobacterium)
Periodontal diseases are of primary importance in dogs. They are associated with the appearance of dental tartar which is the favorable environment for the development of aerobic and anaerobic microorganisms.
Studies have revealed the preponderance of Streptococci, Pasteurella multocida, Staphylococci and anaerobic bacteria in oral infections in carnivores. Spirochetes and fusiforms are also often present in animals with oral infections.
The combination of metronidazole – spiramycin has a complementary spectrum, all germs recognized as pathogens being inhibited by either one or the other active ingredient.
