Description:
Vetmedin 2.5 mg is indicated for the treatment of congestive heart failure in dogs caused by dilated cardiomyopathy or mitral valve insufficiency (mitral and/or tricuspid valve regurgitation).
For the treatment of pre-clinical dilated cardiomyopathies (asymptomatic with increased left ventricular end-systolic and end-diastolic diameter) in Doberman Pinscher breeds after echocardiographic diagnosis of heart disease.
Ingredients:
Pimobendam 2.5 mg;
Excipients: solid gelatin, dehydrated citric acid, titanium dioxide (E171), red iron oxide (E172), yellow iron oxide (E172).

Method of administration:
Oral administration.
Dosage:
Administered in doses of 0.2 mg to 0.6 mg pimobendan / kg body weight per day.
The recommended daily dose is 0.5 mg pimobendan / kg body weight.
This dose corresponds to one 2.5 mg capsule in the morning and one 2.5 mg capsule in the evening for a 5 kg dog.
It is administered one hour before meals.
Possible adverse effects:
In rare cases, an increase in heart rate and vomiting may occur, effects that are dependent on the dose ingested.
In rare cases, anorexia, transient diarrhea or lethargy have been observed.
In rare cases, an increase in mitral valve regurgitation has been observed during chronic treatment with pimobendan in dogs with mitral valvulopathy.
If you notice serious reactions or other unusual elements, please inform your veterinarian.
Precautions:
Do not use in cases of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy or in diseases in which improvement of cardiac output cannot be achieved for functional or anatomical reasons.
Do not use in dogs with severe hepatic dysfunction.
Blood glucose should be checked regularly during treatment in dogs with diabetes.
Monitoring of cardiac function and morphology is recommended.
The safety of the product has not been evaluated in bitches during lactation or pregnancy.
Storage:
Store in a place protected from moisture and direct sunlight, at temperatures up to 25°C.
In case of overdose:
An overdose may cause a positive chronotropic effect, vomiting, apathy, ataxia, heart murmur or hypotension.
In case of overdose, please contact your veterinarian immediately.
