Composition
Oxytetracycline dihydrate 200 mg,
Long-acting excipient q.s. 1 ml.
Properties
The patented TMLA formula enables a complete course of antibiotic therapy with a single injection. Following a single injection at a dosage of 1 ml/10 kg of body weight, effective blood levels are maintained for 3–5 days. A single administration of TMLA replaces three doses given at 24-hour intervals using a standard-formula antibiotic. Unlike conventional “retard” preparations, therapeutic blood levels are reached very quickly after injection, allowing the product to be used for acute infections as well. Terramycin has a broad spectrum of activity, acting against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, *Actinomyces* spp., protozoa, spirochetes, mycoplasmas, and chlamydiae.
Indications
Used for the treatment of systemic or local infections in cattle, sheep, goats, and pigs:
– Infectious respiratory diseases, shipping fever;
– Infectious gastroenteritis;
– Metritis, mastitis, MMA syndrome (Mastitis-Metritis-Agalactia);
– Infectious abortions (chlamydiosis, Q fever);
– Foot rot, arthritis;
– Anaplasmosis, leptospirosis, blackleg, actinobacillosis;
– Prevention of surgical, traumatic, or obstetric infections;
– Bacterial complications of viral diseases;
– Tropical diseases (anaplasmosis, dermatophilosis); – Infectious keratoconjunctivitis in cattle;
Route of administration and dosage
Administer by deep intramuscular injection as a single dose. The dosage for cattle, sheep, goats, and pigs is 1 ml/10 kg of body weight; for piglets weighing 2–10 kg, administer 1 ml subcutaneously, and for those under 2 kg, administer 0.5 ml subcutaneously. Do not administer injectable iron on the same day. In cases requiring prolonged antibiotic therapy, the product may be re-administered 3–5 days after the initial injection. Transient swelling may occur at the injection site; this is not serious and resolves within a few days. To minimize this reaction, it is recommended not to inject:
– more than 20 ml at a single site in cattle;
– more than 5 ml at a single site in sheep and goats;
– more than 10 ml at a single site in pigs.
Withdrawal period
Meat and offal: 21 days.
Milk: 7 days.
Storage conditions
Terramycin L.A. is stable and should be stored at room temperature (but not above 30°C) and protected from freezing. Slight
darkening of the solution may occur, but this does not affect its efficacy.
