COMPOSITION
100 ml suspension contains:
Albendazole………………………………………………………… 2.5 g.
Excipients:
Benzoic acid………………………………………………………… 0.5 g.
Colloidal silicon dioxide, Xanthan gum, Sorbitol, Benzoic acid, Polysorbate 80, Distilled water.
PHARMACOTHERAPEUTIC ACTION
Albendazole is a broad-spectrum anthelmintic, active against gastrointestinal and pulmonary nematodes (adults, larvae, eggs), adult trematodes and some cestodes. Administered orally, it is rapidly absorbed and diffuses into all organs and tissues, producing lysis of parasites, regardless of the species and category of animals treated and the location of the parasites. It is eliminated predominantly through urine.

INDICATIONS
HELMIZOL A 2.5 – is recommended for the treatment of the following endoparasites in sheep, goats and cattle caused by:
– Gastrointestinal nematodes: Haemonchus spp., Ostertagia spp., Trichostrongylus spp., Strongyloides spp., Bunostomum spp., Cooperia spp., Nematodirus spp., Chabertia spp., Oesophagostomum spp., Toxocara spp.;
– Pulmonary nematodes: Dictyocaulus spp., Protostrongylius spp.; Müllerius spp.
– Cestodes: Moniezia spp;
– Adult flukes: Fasciola spp, Dicrocoelium spp., Paramphistomum spp.
DOSAGE, ROUTE AND METHOD OF ADMINISTRATION
It is administered orally, using the usual devices, the recommended doses being the following (1 ml of suspension corresponds to 25 mg albendazole):
Sheep – goats:
2 ml of product is administered /10 kg of body weight, corresponding to 5 mg albendazole / 1 kg of body weight. In the treatment of mature forms of flukes and in the case of infestations with Protostrongylus spp., the recommended dose is 3 ml of product /10 kg of body weight, corresponding to 7.5 mg albendazole / 1 kg of body weight.
Cattle:
30 ml of product /100 kg of body weight is administered, corresponding to 7.5 mg albendazole / 1 kg of body weight. For the treatment of mature forms of trematodes and larval forms of Ostertagia spp., the dose is increased to 40 ml product / 100 kg body weight (10 mg albendazole / 1 kg body weight).
The repetition of the treatment is established by the veterinarian depending on the biological cycle of the parasites. No special diet is required before or after treatment.
CONTRAINDICATIONS, PRECAUTIONS AND ADVERSE REACTIONS
Do not administer to sheep during the breeding season and for one month after the removal of rams from the flock (first month of gestation). Do not use in the first month of gestation. Can be used during lactation. The toxicity of this product is low, with doses 5 times higher than the usual therapeutic doses being tolerated. Rarely, in case of overdose, depressive states and anorexia may occur.
WITHDRAWAL PERIOD
Meat and offal: – cattle: 10 days.
– sheep, goats: 7 days.
Milk: – cattle: 72 hours.
– sheep, goats: 60 hours.
