What is Dermodrin and what is it used for

Dermodrin belongs to the class of drugs called antihistamines for topical use and is an ointment that acts against the manifestations of allergies due to the release of histamine (antihistamine) such as: redness, itching of the skin and pain. Additionally, it reduces or prevents the appearance of skin swelling caused by allergies. Dermodrin ointment acts as an oil-in-water emulsion and has a cooling effect, thus increasing the pain-relieving effect. The effect is felt shortly after applying the ointment and persists for 2 to 6 hours.

It is indicated in the treatment of pruritus (itching of the skin), local pain and hypersensitivity reactions (excessive or abnormal immune response of the body’s defense, allergic) in the case of:
– dermatological diseases with an allergic component;
– insect bites.

How to use Dermodrin

Always use Dermodrin exactly as your doctor has told you. You should talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.

Dosage
Unless your doctor tells you otherwise, apply 1 to 3 g of Dermodrin ointment (the size of a cherry or a walnut) to the affected area of ​​skin.

Adults repeat this application 4 to 6 times a day.

Children over 2 years of age and adolescents: a maximum of 4-5 applications per day are recommended.

Children under 2 years of age
There is no data available on the safety and efficacy of using Dermodrin in children under 2 years of age.

If after 7 days of treatment there is no improvement in symptoms or they worsen, the diagnosis and treatment should be re-evaluated.

If you use more Dermodrin than you should
No cases of overdose with Dermodrin ointment have been reported so far. If Dermodrin is accidentally swallowed, please contact your doctor immediately.

If you forget to use Dermodrin
Do not use a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose.

If you stop using Dermodrin
Do not stop treatment without first consulting your doctor.

Possible side effects

Like all medicines, Dermodrin can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

Local reactions (uncommon) observed: skin rash; redness of the skin on the area where the medicine was applied; formation of papules or blisters; local swelling of the skin; skin sensitization to sunlight or ultraviolet light sources.

Systemic reactions (in rare cases, the following reactions may occur due to extensive skin absorption): hypersensitivity reactions; dry mouth; urination disorders; fatigue; agitation (especially in children); increased reactivity to external stimuli (especially in children); feeling of fear (especially in children).
