Anghirol is an OTC drug that can be used as an adjunct treatment in dyspeptic disorders due to insufficient bile secretion, as well as to stimulate the secretion and evacuation of bile in people at risk of gallstones. It also has a beneficial role in increasing the appetite and promoting digestive and urinary elimination functions.
Composition: One tablet contains dry extract of cynara (artichoke), corresponding to caffeylquinic acids expressed in chlorogenic acid 3.25 mg and excipients: lactose monohydrate, corn starch, povidone K 30, talc, magnesium stearate.
Dosage and method of administration:
– Adults: the recommended dose is 2 – 3 Anghirol tablets 3 times a day before meals.
– Children between 7 and 10 years old: the recommended dose is one Anghirol tablet 3 times a day before meals.
– Children between 10 and 15 years old: the recommended dose is 1 – 2 Anghirol tablets 3 times a day before meals.
Contraindications:
– Allergy to artichokes, plants from the Composite family or any of the excipients of the drug.
– Biliary obstruction or increased risk for biliary obstruction.
– Severe liver failure, acute renal failure.
– Children under 7 years old (due to the pharmaceutical form).
Special warnings:
–It is not recommended to administer the drug to patients with gallstones, lithiasis or biliary hyperkinesia.
– Caution is recommended in patients with gallstones.
– Because the drug contains lactose monohydrate, administration is not recommended in patients with hereditary galactose intolerance, lactase deficiency (Lapp) or glucose–galactose malabsorption.
– Pregnancy and breast–feeding: there is no data to show that the drug influences pregnancy or breast–feeding.
– Ability to drive or use machines: the medicine does not affect the ability to drive or use machines.
Side effects:
After high doses, nausea, dizziness, a feeling of heat may appear.
