CONTRAINDICATIONS
Do not administer to animals with known hypersensitivity to tetracyclines.
ADVERSE REACTIONS
Sometimes, in animals with severe renal insufficiency, adverse reactions may occur manifested by: anorexia, vomiting, abdominal colic, diarrhea, painful defecation; Possible toxic phenomena are due to high concentrations of doxycycline in the blood and tissues that occur after the administration of too high doses, repeated at shorter intervals than those recommended in the package leaflet or in case of severe renal insufficiency.
Digestive system: anorexia, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal colic, pancreatitis; Doxidem 50 administered for a long time can lead to the appearance of staphylococcal enteritis or candidiasis (oral, intestinal, pulmonary).
Teeth: dental pigmentation, caries, dental enamel hypoplasia in newborns and infants whose mothers received doxycycline during gestation or after parturition as well as in young animals.
TARGET SPECIES
Swine, poultry (broilers, breeding birds, replacement young animals).
DOSAGE, METHOD AND ROUTE OF ADMINISTRATION
In birds: administered orally, the therapeutic dose is 20-40 mg Doxidem 50 /kg body weight/day (10-20 mg doxycycline /kg body weight/day), for 5 consecutive days.
In pigs: administered orally, the therapeutic dose is 20-40 mg Doxidem 50 /kg live weight/day (10-20 mg doxycycline /kg live weight/day), for 5 consecutive days.
The following calculation formula can be used for administration:
In drinking water:
mg.Doxidem 50 /kg live weight/day x average body weight of the animal (kg) = mg. Doxidem 50 /liter water.
average daily water consumption (liters)/animal.
In feed:
mg. Doxidem 50 /kg. live weight/day x average body weight of the animal (kg) = mg. Doxidem 50/kg. feed
average daily water consumption (liters)/animal.
Ingestion of water or feed is dependent on the clinical conditions of the animals. Therefore, to obtain the correct dosage, the concentration in drinking water or feed will need to be adjusted.
RECOMMENDATIONS ON CORRECT ADMINISTRATION
The use of the product should be based on the sensitivity of the bacteria isolated from the field. If this is not possible, the treatment should be carried out based on local epidemiological information (region, farm) regarding the sensitivity of the target bacteria. During the entire treatment period, the animals should drink only medicated water and eat only medicated feed. Fresh medicated water should be prepared every 24 hours. To ensure the correct dosage, the body weight of the animals should be calculated as accurately as possible, in order to avoid underdosing the product. The product should be well homogenized with the concentrated feed to ensure uniform dispersion throughout its mass.
WITHDRAWAL TIME
For pork: 10 days from the last administration.
For poultry: 7 days from the last administration.
Do not administer to birds producing eggs for human consumption.
