The use of ketoprofen is not recommended in foals under 1 month of age. Use in animals under 6 weeks of age or in old animals may involve additional risks. If such use cannot be avoided, these animals may require a reduced dose and careful management of the treatment. Avoid intra-arterial injection. Do not exceed the established dose and duration of treatment. Use with caution in dehydrated animals and in animals with low blood pressure. In case of colic, an additional dose may be administered only after a thorough clinical examination. Sufficient drinking water should be provided throughout the treatment.
Use during pregnancy, lactation or lay:
Studies on the effect of ketoprofen in laboratory animals and pregnant cattle have not yielded any evidence of adverse effects. Since the safety of ketoprofen in pregnant mares or sows has not been evaluated, the drug should be used in these cases only after a risk/benefit assessment by the veterinarian.
