4. Possible side effects
Like all medications, it can cause side effects, although they do not occur in all people.
Tell your doctor immediately and stop using the plaster if you notice any of the following: sudden rash on the skin accompanied by itching (hives); swelling of the hands, feet, ankles, face, lips, mouth or neck; shortness of breath; low blood pressure or weakness.
You may experience the following side effects:
Common side effects (may affect up to 1 in 10 patients): local skin reactions such as redness, burning, itching, redness of the skin affected by inflammation, rash sometimes accompanied by infected pus-filled blisters (pustules).
Very rare side effects (may affect up to 1 patient in 10000): hypersensitivity reactions or local allergic reactions (contact dermatitis).
In patients using drugs from the same group of active substances externally as diclofenac, there have been isolated reports of whole-body rash, hypersensitivity reactions such as swelling of the skin and mucous membranes, and anaphylactic reactions with acute blood circulation regulation disorders and light sensitivity reactions.
The absorption of diclofenac into the body through the skin is very low compared to the concentration of active substance present in the blood after oral use of diclofenac. Therefore, the possibility of side effects throughout the body (such as stomach and intestinal disorders, kidney disorders or shortness of breath) is very low.
