What is Duofilm and what is it used for
Duofilm is indicated for the local treatment of warts. Duofilm is a drug for dermatological, external use.
How to use Duofilm
Always use this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as told by your doctor or pharmacist. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you are unsure. It is used only externally, on the skin.
It is used in adults and children aged 2 years and older.
– Adults and the elderly
Duofilm will be applied directly only on the wart once a day, preferably in the evening before bedtime. Be careful to avoid applying it to the healthy skin area around the wart.
– Use in children and adolescents
In children under 12 years of age, treatment should be done under adult supervision.
In children under 2 years of age, treatment with Duofilm is not recommended.
Duofilm is not recommended for the treatment of warts or warts that spread over an area of the body larger than 5 cm2 (approximately the size of a postage stamp).
The duration of treatment is established according to the severity of the condition, and can reach 6–12 weeks. Do not continue treatment for more than 12 weeks. If the warts or warts have not disappeared after 12 weeks of treatment, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice.
Duofilm solution is flammable (can catch fire). Stay away from heat, fire or open flame sources and do not smoke while applying the Duofilm solution or immediately after applying it.
Possible side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although they do not occur in all people.
You may have the following reactions in or around the area you are applying Duofilm: allergic reactions, inflammation, pain, skin irritation, burning sensation, redness, itching, discoloration of the skin.
Accidental application of Duofilm on areas of normal skin can cause the appearance of blisters, peeling of the skin.
If you have accidentally swallowed Duofilm, used it too often, for long periods of time or over very large areas, then your body may be absorbing too much salicylic acid. This could lead to salicylate poisoning. Related to this, some of the common symptoms that may occur include feeling thirsty, ringing in the ears or deafness, feeling sick, feeling tired, rapid breathing, dizziness, warm hands and feet, or unusual mood or thinking. Discontinue use of Duofilm and consult your doctor if you experience these or any other symptoms.
