Excipients: monopropylene glycol, sodium carboxymethylcellulose, sodium benzoate, demineralized water
INDICATIONS
The product is indicated in cattle for the treatment of gastrointestinal and pulmonary nematodoses (Ostertagia spp., Nematodirus spp., Haemonchus spp., Trichostongylus spp., Cooperia spp., Dictyocaulus spp., Bunostomum spp., Oesophagostomum spp.) trematodoses (Fasciola spp.) and cestodes (Moniesia spp.).
CONTRAINDICATIONS
Due to the potential teratogenic and embryotoxic effect, it is not administered in the first 45 days of gestation.
ADVERSE REACTIONS
The product is well tolerated in therapeutic doses. If you notice any severe effects or other effects not mentioned in this leaflet, inform your veterinarian immediately.
TARGET SPECIES
Cattle.
DOSAGE FOR EACH SPECIES, ROUTE AND METHOD OF ADMINISTRATION
ASCACID 10% is administered orally with a syringe or other graduated device for the administration of oral suspensions to animals, in a single dose of 10 mg albendazole /kg body weight (10 ml Ascacid 10% / 100 kg body weight)
In case of reinfestation, the treatment is repeated after 3 months.
To ensure correct administration of the therapeutic dose, the body weight of the animal must be determined as accurately as possible.
in the case of treating several animals at once, they must be grouped according to their weight and the dose adapted accordingly, to avoid under- or overdose.
RECOMMENDATIONS ON CORRECT ADMINISTRATION
Shake the bottle before use.
WITHDRAWAL TIME
Meat and offal: 28 days
Milk: 3 days
STORAGE PRECAUTIONS
The product should be stored in a dry, dark place, below 25°C, protected from frost.
SPECIAL WARNINGS
Special warnings for each target species:
The following practices increase the risk of developing resistance and may consequently cause ineffectiveness of anthelmintic therapy:
Repeated and too frequent use of anthelmintics from the same class, over an extended period of time
Underdosing, which may be caused by an underestimation of the animal’s body weight or incorrect administration of the product.
Clinical cases suspected of anthelmintic resistance should be investigated using paraclinical tests, e.g.: the total egg count reduction test. In the event that the tests indicate resistance to a certain class of anthelmintics, an anthelmintic with a different mode of action should be used by changing the class.
Resistance to albendazole has been reported in Fasciola hepatica, Trichostrongylus spp, Haemonchus spp and Oesophagostomum spp. Therefore, the use of this product must be supported by local epidemiological information (regional, at farm level) on the susceptibility of Fasciola hepatica, Trichostrongylus spp, Haemonchus spp and Oesophagostomum spp and accompanied by recommendations on ways to limit the selection of resistance to albendazole.
Use during pregnancy, lactation
Due to the potential teratogenic and embryotoxic effect, it is not administered in the first month of pregnancy.
Interactions with other medicinal products or other forms of interaction
Do not combine with cimetidine and praziquantel which decrease the absorption of albendazole by modifying the pH in the rumen.
Overdose (symptoms, emergency procedures, antidotes), as appropriate
Exceeding the dose by up to 20 times does not cause adverse reactions.
SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS FOR THE DISPOSAL OF UNUSED PRODUCT OR WASTE MATERIALS, IF ANY.
Treated animals should be kept in isolated areas and their droppings should not be used for soil fertilization
Any unused veterinary medicinal product or waste materials derived from the use of such products should be disposed of in accordance with local requirements.
