The active substance in Canesten Gyn Uno is clotrimazole, which belongs to the group of medicines called imidazole derivatives. It has a broad spectrum of action against fungi, that is, it destroys fungi and inhibits their growth. It is also effective against microorganisms such as dermatophytes, yeasts and molds.
Canesten Gyn Uno is used for the treatment of infections of the vagina and female external genitalia, caused by microorganisms sensitive to clotrimazole. Infections are usually caused by fungi of the genus Candida. Symptoms include itching, burning sensation and abundant vaginal discharge.
This medicine can be used by adult and adolescent women from the age of 16.
Always use this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as told by your doctor or pharmacist. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
Composition: Clotrimazole 500 mg.
How to use: A soft vaginal capsule inserted deep into the vagina in a single dose, in the evening.
It is not recommended to use Canesten Gyn Uno during your menstrual period. Treatment should be completed before menstruation begins.
If the sexual partner shows symptoms of the fungal infection, they must be treated at the same time.
The vaginal soft capsule should be inserted into the vagina as deep as possible in the evening at bedtime using the applicator provided in the package.
Follow these steps:
Pull the applicator plunger outwards until it stops. Put the soft vaginal capsule in the applicator.
Place the soft vaginal capsule firmly into the applicator holder by twisting gently.
Insert the loaded applicator into the vagina as deeply as possible. Insertion is best done in a lying position on your back, with your legs apart and slightly bent. Press the plunger all the way inside the applicator. Remove the applicator with the plunger pressed.
Inserting the vaginal soft capsule without an applicator: if you are pregnant, insert the vaginal soft capsule into the vagina with your fingers.
Duration of treatment: Canesten Gyn Uno is used as a single-dose treatment.
Contact a doctor if symptoms do not improve significantly after 7 days after starting treatment to confirm the cause of the infection. If your symptoms get worse, see a doctor.

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although they do not occur in all people.
Side effects may occur with the following frequencies:
Common, may affect up to 1 in 10 people: burning sensation
Uncommon, they can affect up to 1 in 100 people: abdominal pain, itching, redness of the skin/irritation.
Rare, they can affect up to 1 in 1000 people: allergic reactions, swelling, transient skin rashes, vaginal bleeding.
With unknown frequency, which cannot be estimated from the available data: peeling in the genital area, discomfort, pelvic pain.
Stop treatment if you experience local side effects or allergic reactions.
Local side effects may be similar to the symptoms of the condition. Therefore, it can sometimes be difficult to differentiate the symptoms of the infection from the side effects caused by the drug.
