What Flonidan 10 mg is and what it is used for

Flonidan 10 mg contains loratadine as its active substance, which belongs to a class of medicines known as antihistamines. Various substances (mediators) are released in the course of allergic reactions, leading to the development of symptoms of allergic disease. Histamine is one of the most important mediators in allergic reactions. Flonidan 10 mg inhibits the action of histamine, thus demonstrating a strong antiallergic activity. Flonidan 10 mg relieves the following symptoms caused by histamine: itching, redness, sweating and runny nose. The action of the drug is installed within 30 minutes of ingestion and lasts approximately 24 hours. Flonidan 10 mg is recommended in the prevention and treatment of:
– seasonal allergic rhinitis (sneezing, abundant nasal discharge or itchy nose, stinging or itchy eyes);
– chronic hives (itching) and other skin allergies.

How to take Flonidan 10 mg

Always take Flonidan 10 mg as recommended below. You should talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you are unsure.

Adults and children 12 years of age and older: Take one Flonidan 10 mg tablet once a day with a glass of water, with or without food.

Patients with severe liver disease: for adults and children aged 6 to 12 years and weighing more than 30 kg: one tablet every other day, with a glass of water, with or without food.
Elderly patients or those with impaired renal function do not require dose reduction.

Use in children:

Children aged 6 to 12 years and weighing more than 30 kg: take one Flonidan 10 mg tablet once a day with a glass of water, with or without food.
Children aged 6 to 12 years and weighing less than 30 kg: Flonidan 10 mg tablets is not recommended for children weighing less than 30 kg.
For children aged 2 to 6 years, other age-appropriate dosage forms (e.g. syrup) are recommended.
Flonidan 10 mg is not recommended for children under 2 years of age.
If you take more Flonidan 10 mg than you should
If you have taken more Flonidan than your doctor has prescribed, tell your doctor immediately or go to the emergency department of the nearest hospital. If you have taken more Flonidan than you should, you may experience the following symptoms: drowsiness, frequent heartbeat, and headache.

If you forget to take Flonidan 10 mg
If you have forgotten to take the medicine on time, you can do it as soon as possible and then return to the usual dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for the missed dose.

If you stop taking Flonidan 10 mg
If you have any further questions about this medicine, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

Possible side effects

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although they do not occur in all people.

The most common may occur: allergic reactions, dizziness, rapid heart rate, palpitations, nausea, dry mouth, stomach inflammation, liver function disorders, transient skin rash, hair loss, fatigue.
