Therapeutic indications
Broilers: prevention and treatment of fowl cholera caused by Pasteurella multocida, prevention and treatment of colibacillary enteritis caused by E.coli, sensitive to oxytetracycline.
Pigs: prevention and treatment of enteritis caused by E. coli, prevention and treatment of pneumonia caused by M.hyopneumoniae, sensitive to oxytetracycline.
Oxytetracycline acts by inhibiting the metabolism of glutamic acid, being active on both Gram-positive and Gram-negative germs, as well as rickettsiae, spirochetes, etc.
It is absorbed relatively quickly, reaching the active serum concentration in about an hour.
It crosses the placenta, is found in the pleural and cerebrospinal fluid.
Contraindications
Do not treat pigs or broilers known to be sensitive to pyxitetracycline or any of the excipients.
Do not administer to animals with hepatic, renal or haematopoietic dysfunction.

Recommendations on correct administration
The treatment consists of administering the product Oxicrid 40%, orally, individually or by mass (by incorporation into feed or drinking water), for 5-7 consecutive days, in different doses, depending on the species, age, body weight, physiological state and health status. For mass treatment, through feed or drinking water, we recommend the correct calculation of the total live weight and the quantity of product to be administered, as well as the preparation of premixes, for correct homogenization.
In pigs: A dose of 10-20 mg s.a. should be provided. / kg b.w. / day, respectively 50 mg product
In broilers: A dose of 20-40 mg s.a. / kg b.w. / day, respectively 100 mg Oxicrid 40% product / kg b.w. / day should be provided.
Special warnings
The use of the veterinary medicinal product should be based on the results of susceptibility tests and take into account official and local policies regarding antimicrobial measures.
Use of the product outside the SPC instructions may lead to an increase in the prevalence of oxytetracycline and may lead to a decrease in the effectiveness of treatments with antimicrobials from the tetracycline class as a result of cross-resistance.
Ingestion of medicated water/feed by animals may be carried out due to illness. In case of insufficient ingestion of medicated feed/water, the treatment regimen will be reviewed.
Special precautions for personnel administering the product:
The product causes skin irritation of the respiratory tract and eyes in case of inhalation or contact.
Appropriate protective measures will be taken during the mixing of the product with feed and/or when it is solubilized in water.
The working personnel must wear gloves, safety glasses and a mask. In case of contact with eyes, they should be washed with soap and water.
Do not smoke, drink or eat while handling the product.
The product should not be administered in case of known resistance to other tetracyclines.
The product should not be administered simultaneously with aluminum-based antacids, calcium, magnesium or iron-based preparations and bismuth-based salts due to chelation.
In the absence of compatibility studies of the veterinary medicinal product, it should not be mixed with other veterinary medicinal products.
Withdrawal period
Broilers meat and offal: 7 days
Pigs (meat and offal): 6 days
