ROMOXIBENDAZOLE – TABLETS
The composition of a 1000 mg tablet is: Oxibendazole 150 mg (Active substance) and excipients (lactose, starch, aerosil, talc, avicel, magnesium stearate) ad 1,000 mg.
PHARMACOLOGICAL ACTION
Oxibendazole is part of the benzimidazole group, being a broad-spectrum anthelmintic. Administered orally, it is rapidly absorbed and diffuses into all organs and tissues, producing lysis of endoparasites, regardless of their location (digestive tract, respiratory system, various tissues).
It is active against nematodes (including Trichinella spp.) and cestodes (larvae and adults). The toxicity of the product is relatively low. The recommended doses have no teratogenic or embryotoxic effect.
TARGET SPECIES
Pigs.
INDICATIONS
Romoxibendazole is recommended for pigs in the deworming and control of endoparasites caused by Ascaris suum, Trichocephalus spp., Metastrongylus spp., Oesophagostomum spp., Strogyloides, Trichinella spp., Acanthocephala, Cysticercus.
METHOD OF ADMINISTRATION
Romoxibendazole is administered orally, in dry feed, at a single meal in a single dose of 1 tablet/10 kg body weight/day (i.e. 15 mg active substance/kg body weight/day. The treatment is applied to the entire herd of pigs 3-4 times a year.
WARNING
Ensure good homogenization of the product in the feed. The indicated doses must be respected. The weight of the animals must be correctly assessed to avoid overdoses or underdosing. The product is not administered in drinking water because it is insoluble.
WITHDRAWAL PERIOD
Meat, 10 days from the last treatment.
