THERAPEUTIC ACTION
It has a broad spectrum of activity, acting on germs commonly isolated in the mammary gland of cattle (streptococci, staphylococci, Corynebacterium and Escherichia coli) as well as on some less common germs (Bacillus cereus, Bacteroides spp, Camphylobacter spp, Klebsie and Pasteurelle). Resistance to many antibiotics is caused by beta-lactamase enzymes that inactivate the antibiotic before it acts on the bacteria. Clavulanic acid blocks this defense mechanism, inactivating beta-lactamases, so that the germs become sensitive to the bactericidal effect of amoxycillin. Prednisolone has anti-inflammatory action, which helps to reduce edema and local inflammation following mastitis, without affecting the immune response.
INDICATIONS
It is used in the treatment of mastitis in cattle, produced by Gram-positive and Gram-negative germs.
ADMINISTRATION AND DOSAGE
It is administered intramammarily after complete milking and disinfection of the teat with alcohol.
