Indications
In lactating cows, in the treatment of mastitis. Cephalexin is active against Gram-negative germs and kanamycin is active against Gram-positive germs and against Staphylococcus aureus. The combination of cephalexin and kanamycin has demonstrated a synergy in bacterial activity so that the effect of cephalexin is enhanced by kanamycin and vice versa.
Dosage and administration
Before treatment, milk each quarter.- Disinfect the teats.
Carefully insert the contents of a syringe into the affected quarter.
Inject slowly and massage the teat lightly, from bottom to top for upward dispersion of the suspension.
One syringe for one affected quarter, at 24-hour intervals, 2 administrations.
Precautions
People allergic to cephalosporins and kanamycins should avoid skin contact.
Contraindications
Do not administer to animals sensitive to cephalosporins and kanamycin

Action
Cephalexin is part of the first generation of cephalosporins and is a semi-synthetic antibiotic from the β lactam group, obtained by semi-synthesis from 7-amino-cephalosporinic acid, cephalosporin acts by inhibiting the synthesis of nucleo-peptides of the bacterial cell wall. Kanamycin – belongs to the aminoglycoside class and inhibits bacterial protein synthesis.
Withdrawal period
Milk 10 milkings (5 days);
Meat 10 days.
