What is Baneocin ointment and what is it used for
Baneocin is an antibacterial drug that is applied to the skin. It works by destroying certain bacteria that cause skin conditions.
Baneocin ointment is used in:
– infections of the hair follicles and infections of the sweat glands
– treatment of certain infections and ulcers on the skin
– Panarites
– treatment of burns and injuries caused by hot, superinfected liquids
– treatment of eczema, cracks and superinfected cuts
– prevention of infections after skin surgery.
How to use Baneocin ointment
Always use this medicine exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
Adults and children over 2 years old
– Spread the ointment in a thin layer on the affected area 2 to 4 times a day.
– The affected area can be covered with a dressing.
– Avoid contact with eyes.
If you have not noticed any signs of improvement within 5 days of treatment with Baneocin ointment, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
If you use more Baneocin ointment than you should
Please contact your doctor or pharmacist if you have used more than you should of Baneocin ointment and, as a result, you experience symptoms that may indicate kidney damage (loss of appetite, intense thirst, low urination, traces of blood in the urine) or hearing impairment (hearing loss due to loud sounds, noises and pressure in the ears).
If you forget to use Baneocin ointment
If you forget to use the ointment, use it as soon as you remember. Do not use more ointment to make up for the forgotten dose.
If you stop using Baneocin ointment
Use Baneocin ointment for as long as your doctor or pharmacist has recommended it. You need each dose to help fight the infection. If you discontinue use earlier than
has been recommended to you, there is a risk that some of the bacteria will survive and cause the infection to return.
If you accidentally swallow the medicine
Tell your doctor immediately and he will recommend the necessary treatment.
If the medicine got into your eye by mistake
Rinse your eyes immediately with tap water. Contact your doctor if you continue to experience discomfort.

Possible side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although they do not occur in all people.
The following adverse reactions have been reported: Rare (may affect up to 1 in 1000 users):
– cross-hypersensitivity reactions to other aminoglycoside antibiotics may occur, in
about 50% of cases of neomycin hypersensitivity.
– allergies that mainly manifest themselves in the form of contact dermatitis; Neomycin allergy is less common than generally assumed.
Frequency unknown (cannot be estimated from available data)
– Compared to intact skin, skin sensitization to various drugs, including neomycin, is generally determined by use in the treatment of chronic dermatitis (e.g. venous stasis dermatitis or chronic otitis media). In some cases, the allergy can manifest itself
by the extension of the lesions or just by the lack of healing.
– Vestibular nerve damage, neuromuscular block
