What Bromhexim Rompharm is and what it is used for
Bromhexim Rompharm contains the active substance bromhexin hydrochloride which acts by decreasing the viscosity of the mucus.
Bromhexim Rompharm is a mucolytic medicine that helps mucus become more fluid and thus can be eliminated more easily by coughing.
Bromhexim Rompharm is administered in acute and chronic respiratory diseases accompanied by viscous secretions, difficult to eliminate (tracheobronchitis, acute bronchitis, chronic simple bronchitis, chronic obstructive bronchitis, bronchial asthma, bronchiectasis, other lung diseases).
How to take Bromhexim Rompharm
Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you are unsure.
A large measuring spoon contains 5 milliliters of solution.
A small measuring spoon contains 2.5 milliliters of solution.
One milliliter of solution contains 2 mg of bromhexin hydrochloride = 25 drops.
Recommended dosage
The medicine is intended for oral administration. If the doctor does not recommend otherwise, the following common doses can be used:
The administration is done with the dosing spoon, at:
‐ adults and children over 10 years old: one large dosing spoon (5 milliliters of solution), 3 times a day;
‐ Children between 5 and 10 years old: a small dosing spoon (2.5 milliliters of solution), 3 times a day.
The administration is done in drops, at:
‐ children between 1 and 5 years old: 25 drops, 3 times a day;
‐ Children under 1 year old: 12-13 drops, 2-3 times a day.
During the treatment it is recommended to consume as many fluids as possible to promote the fluidification of secretions.
Duration of treatment
Bromhexim Rompharm should not be used for more than a few days without a doctor’s recommendation. If your symptoms do not improve after 3 days or even worsen, you should contact your doctor immediately.
Note: When administering the drops, do not touch any surfaces with the dropper stopper. After administration, close the bottle tightly. Clean and dry the dosing spoon after each administration.

If you take more than you should of Bromhexim Rompharm, contact your doctor or pharmacist immediately.
If you forget to take Bromhexim Rompharm
If you have forgotten to take the medicine, take the medicine as soon as you remember. If it’s almost time to take your next dose, skip the missed dose and wait until it’s time to take your next dose. Do not take a double dose to make up for the missed dose.

Possible side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although they do not occur in all people.
Uncommon side effects (occur in 1 to 10 users in 1000)
‐ nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, pain in the head of the chest;
‐ In isolated cases, in people who have had a peptic ulcer, the ulcer may recur.
Rare side effects (occur in 1 to 10 users in 10000)
‐ headache, dizziness;
‐ transient increase in the values obtained in certain blood tests that show changes in the functioning of the liver (increase in transaminases).
Very rare side effects (occur in less than 1 user in 10000)
‐ allergic reactions, such as: rash, hives, swelling of the face, difficulty breathing, itching, fever, chills, profuse sweating. If you notice any of these side effects, discontinue treatment with Bromhexim Rompharm and see your doctor immediately.
In patients who cannot expectorate effectively, the risk of bronchial obstruction by accumulation of secretions may increase.
