What Eucarbon is and what it is used for

This medicine is used in the treatment of constipation. The active substances contained in Eucarbon are exclusively of vegetable and mineral origin and have the role of regulating digestion, with a slight laxative effect. Charcoal (non-activated) has the ability to adsorb various toxic metabolic substances that are subsequently excreted due to the laxative effect of senna leaf powder and dry rhubarb extract. Purified sulfur also has a mild disinfectant effect in the intestinal tract. The mild laxative effect of this drug sets in about 8-10 hours after administration. If after a few days you do not feel better or feel worse, you should contact a doctor.

How to use Eucarbon

Always use this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as told by your doctor or pharmacist. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you are unsure.

Dosage

Adults and adolescents over 12 years of age: unless your doctor has prescribed otherwise, the usual dose to achieve a mild laxative effect and reduce flatulence is 1–2 tablets taken 1–3 times a day with a meal or after a meal.

The dosage required to achieve the desired effect may vary individually. If a stronger laxative effect is desired, the evening dose can be increased to 3 – 4 Eucarbon tablets. The maximum daily dose of 8 tablets should not be exceeded.

Eucarbon tablets are administered with a large amount of liquids (at least one glass of water).

If you use more Eucarbon than you should
The appearance of diarrhea is a sign of overdose. In this case, the treatment is interrupted or the dose of Eucarbon is reduced.

If you forget to use Eucarbon
Do not take a double dose to make up for the missed dose.

Possible side effects

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although they do not occur in all people.

Rare (may affect less than 1 in 1000 people): nausea or vomiting – may be signs of overdose.

Very rare (may affect less than 1 in 10000 people): abdominal pain, diarrhea.

Not known (not to be estimated from the available data): abnormal urine discolouration.

Taking higher doses over a longer period of time can cause the loss of mineral salts, especially potassium, which leads to muscle weakness and increased constipation due to decreased colon activity.
